The School of Art at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) is celebrating 45 years of holiday tradition this season.
From Dec. 9-13, the students and faculty of the nationally recognized visual arts program provide a very special holiday shopping opportunity for area lovers of art and fine craft – an event that has been offered each year for the past 45 years.
Called the Annual Holiday Art Sale, the event will feature thousands of unique and individual pieces that will be on display and available for purchase in the CSULB School of Art student galleries. CSULB students and faculty members participate in the sale with a significant percentage of the proceeds going to support student scholarships, guest speakers, supplies and individual program support. The sale officially begins at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9.
Original works of art and fine craft showcase the diverse and comprehensive programs offered through the CSULB School of Art. From photography to fiber, ceramics to illustration, sculpture to metals, jewelry to graphic design, woodwork to drawing and painting – the event features work for every taste and every budget. Prices for individual pieces are expected to range from $5 to $500.
Sale hours are Sunday, Dec. 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Monday-Thursday, Dec. 10-13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8). Historically, patrons begin lining up two to three hours prior to the opening of the sale to ensure the best selection of these one-of-a-kind objects. Cash, checks and Visa are accepted forms of payment.
The 45th Annual School of Art Holiday Sale takes place in the CSULB School of Art galleries and courtyard located between the Fine Arts 2 and Fine Arts 3 buildings on the southeastern section of the CSULB campus. Parking for the sale is available in Lot 8, off East University Drive. From the parking lots, patrons are asked to follow the directional signs leading to the sale.
