The community is invited to take part in Cal State Long Beach’s (CSULB) 2013 Homecoming celebration on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of The Walter Pyramid.
This year’s theme is “There’s No Place Like the Beach,” and the campus will have a variety of “Beach” activities for people of all ages.
Departments and programs will open their doors for the curious to explore; alumni, community members, students and staff can participate in inflatable games, explore 49er history, rekindle friendships, and cheer the men’s basketball team at its season opener.
Guests can ride shuttle buses to various campus locations including CSI@CSULB, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, marine biology lab, School of Nursing SIM lab, various labs at the College of Engineering, the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden and more.
Music, food, the cheer squad and an opportunity drawing will also add to the festive atmosphere. Proceeds from the drawing will benefit the Alumni Grants Program, sponsored by the CSULB Alumni Association. Among the many prizes are two roundtrip tickets on JetBlue, an iPad mini and one night at the Long Beach Hyatt Regency.
The Alumni Association also is presenting a BBQ/brunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Alumni & Friends Tent. Other activities or special features will include a henna artist, carnival games, photo booth, airbrush tattoos and a caricature artist.
The celebration concludes with the 2013-14 season-opening game of the Long Beach State men’s basketball team as the 49ers host the Sea Warriors of Hawaii Pacific University in a 3:05 p.m. game in the Pyramid.
