Long Beach State (LBSU) is inviting fans of former 49er volleyball standout Misty May-Treanor to an official send-off celebration on Friday, July 20, beginning at 5 p.m. in the Walter Pyramid as she heads to the London Olympics in an attempt to win a third consecutive gold medal in beach volleyball.
The event is free and open to the public.
In addition to an appearance from May-Treanor in person, other guest speakers will be joining her as Long Beach celebrates the opportunity for May-Treanor to win an unprecedented third gold medal with her partner Keri Walsh while representing Team USA.
May-Treanor was a two-time NCAA Player of the Year with LBSU’s women's volleyball, leading the 49ers to the first-ever undefeated season in NCAA history as well as a national championship during the 1998 season.
